Remote data processing

Data processing at a distance designed by the manufacturer, without which the product could not perform one of its functions.

Data processing at a distance for which the software is designed and developed by the manufacturer or under its responsibility, and the absence of which would prevent the product with digital elements from performing one of its functions. It brings the cloud service behind a connected device into the product's scope — the device and its essential back-end are assessed together — while general-purpose cloud services that a product merely uses are not products under the CRA.
