Setup (7 minutes)
- Install Proton Bridge — proton.me → Bridge → install on macOS / Windows / Linux. Bridge unlocks IMAP for paid Proton plans.
- Generate Bridge IMAP credentials — Bridge → your account → 'Show IMAP settings'. Copy the auto-generated username + Bridge password.
- Connect Vellaci — Settings → Integrations → Proton Mail → paste the Bridge credentials. Vellaci uses metadata-only IMAP FETCH.
- Verify — Open a contact who emailed you recently. Their Proton thread should appear on the timeline.
Privacy
Proton Mail is Swiss end-to-end encrypted. Vellaci connects through Proton Bridge so decryption happens locally on your machine; only metadata (who, when, subject) leaves Bridge and reaches Vellaci. Message bodies stay encrypted and on-device.
What this unlocks
- Auto-log the Proton-first user base — Swiss founders, privacy-conscious EU professionals.
- Keep the Proton end-to-end encryption promise while still getting a relationship timeline.
- Cover families who fled Gmail without forcing them back.
